Adventures of the SAT. Sam and Eric from the workplace of Admission took the SAT test in December. Yes, that is correct. They willingly took the SAT. For fun! Hard to think, I understand. We talk frequently about the SAT and our Dean of Admission, Tim Brunold, recommended we take it in order to relate to the students with whom we work. Sam and Eric accepted the process. I sat down with both of them to talk about exactly how it went. That is whatever they had to say:

Q: Why did you choose to take the SAT?

S: I had been curious. We put it to use and have so numerous conversations it felt irresponsible to not actually know what it was like around it that.

E: I assume we decided to take the test for the few reasons. I believe both of us thought it could be fun. (We might have been incorrect). And it was thought by us would help us relate a little to the applicants and recognize that it was just one aspect of the process.

Q: Now that you’ve finished your undergraduate and graduate work, did you discover it easier or even more difficult this time around?

S: It was surely harder, I do believe because I don’t sit in a classroom analyzing literature or doing math these days, so my brain simply is not trained for that kind of stuff anymore. I additionally took it before the writing had been added so that it seemed a great deal longer with that added section.

Last Minute Application Tips!. Grades and test ratings are essential in the admission procedure; there is no doubt about this. However, themselves academically and who have performed well in school, we rely on the qualitative factors of the application to arrive at a decision while we are looking for students who have challenged. At this point into the process, senior school seniors should focus their attention regarding the presentation components of the application: the essay, short answers, extracurricular activities, plus the letter of recommendation.

The Essay

The essay is a student’s opportunity to tell us who they are, perhaps not only as being a person but also as a pupil. Probably the most effective essays would be the most essays that are authentic. We are really to know who our candidates are. The advice that is best I can provide to students is to ‘be your self’.

They are called short answers, buuuut they shouldn’t be too short of an solution. The answers that are short taken very seriously within our review process. They provide us valuable understanding in to a student’s academic interest also as their commitments outside of the class.

We have been trying to find pupils who will be active members regarding the USC community. I always recommend that students list any commitments they have outside of this classroom.
